Historically, photogrammetry was very limited to vegetation (trees, shrubs, invasive species) which all cover up the visible light readings of the surface. This problem is especially the case in BC where an abundance of vegetation grows year round.
Due to dense tree canopies and other obstructions, getting reliable ground surface models and accurate surveys using drone photos was difficult or impossible.
The arrival of new technology and the right RPAS, means powerful lasers can penetrate through the canopies and obtain very accurate ground surface readings in order to create a precise model.
Reliable, accurate LIDAR data can be achieved without flying a manned aircraft at much larger expense. In addition our RPAS can fly in most weather conditions, by day or night and with less risk factors.
"YellowScan Mapper+" is a Made in France product and the new RPAS/Drone LiDAR system. It integrates the Livox AVIA laser scanner with a high-performance GNSS-aided INS. This lightweight, standalone, and easy-to-use lidar system gives accurate (The LIDAR boasts 2.5CM -3.0 CM precision at 100M AGL) and stable results over a wide range of applications. The LIDAR fits onto our new DJI M300 survey drone.
The DJI L1 is a much less accurate LIDAR array than the Yellowscan Mapper. The DJI L1 obtains between 5-10 CMs (and must be flown lower) verses 2-3CM with the YellowScan Mapper. The DJI L1 may be suitable for areas which do not require as high accuracies. Data processing is also exclusively used on DJI's Terra Application.
The YellowScan Mapper features an Applanix INS giving it a fast, stable, and high-accuracy result. It follows the entire Applanix processing workflow to get cm-level reliable results Cloud Station processing software includes terrain module, strip adjustment, and the color module for creating high-resolution point-clouds.

The aircraft is designed to integrate with the Z L1 payload which enhances safety and pilot ease of use issues. The RPAS and LIDAR sensors is capable to be flown in adverse weather conditions including rain, and/or during night/low light conditions.
