The Sensor: The DJI Zenmuse L2 is an integrated geospatial data acquisition system.

The M300 with L2 combines frame LiDAR technology, a high-accuracy IMU system, and a 4/3 CMOS RGB mapping camera. This system is designed to provide precise and efficient data collection capabilities when used with DJI flight platforms, particularly when integrated with DJI Terra software. 

With a frame-based design and leading edge IMU system, the L2 with RTK ensures high-precision mapping. With VAP's expert drone pilot, exceptional and impressive survey results have been demonstrated on many projects.Topograffic survey workflows  processing and deliverables pipeline through partners who are qualified BC Land Surveyors.  

The Zenmuse L2 offers high vertical and horizontal relative accuracy of 2 CM respectively, and may cover a substantial 2.5 km² area in a single flight.

Expanded Detection Range

Our L2 LiDAR camera system offers impressive detection capabilities, ranging from 250 meters at 10% reflectivity and 100 klx, all the way to 450 meters at 50% reflectivity with 0 klx. This extended range also enables a typical operational altitude increase of up to 120 meters, significantly enhancing operational safety and efficiency.

Data Processing? 

When you hire VAP for LiDAR work, your team can be quoted on full data processing package by certified local BC Lands Surveyors (BCLS) Quotes for processing are based on the scale of projects and on a case by case basis.  If a LiDAR rescan becomes necessary, VAP does not charge for this data acquisition.

RTK Corrections: All LiDAR/RGB photo data is acquired using RTK corrections (from known control points optional) to optimize accuracy for ultimate reliability. Our Mobile Base Station 2 can set up  anywhere. We have found this system to be more reliable than limited range or tied-up network RTK options for drone scan operations.  

Victoria Air Photos and Survey's D-RTK 2 Mobile Station fully supports GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, and GALILEO signals. Easy and quick to set up, the D-RTK 2 Mobile Station provides real-time differential data for drones to achieve centimeter-level positioning accuracy. The built-in high-gain antenna offers better signal reception from more satellites even when obstructions are present.

Who Operates the M300 Drone and L2 LiDAR?

Safety is always first! At Victoria Air photos and Survey, our qualified and TC Advanced/SFOC certified RPAS/Drone pilot David Carlos has over 3500 hours of complex RPAS flight experience since 2013. Assist by staff and visual observers, the RPAS team ensures safety and quality data everytime.

We have the right experience, knowledge and equipment to fly, program and navigate the large, powerful DJI M300/350 & LiDAR payloads in challenging conditions. We have completed many flights next to active airports and within control zones safely with full Transport Canada/ Nav Canada authorization.

Carlos has worked for the last 5 years with many BC Land Surveyors  near Victoria, BC and the Island doing a wide variety of land survey projects around Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.
